OCT Round Help Guide

We noticed in round two that a lot of people had issues with some things, so we put together some tips to help you guys out! 1. PACING A lot of you struggled with pacing: your rounds often dragged a lot in the beginning with content we tend to call "filler" - stuff that wasn't related to your own plot, character development, or the prompt. While small amounts of filler won't hurt your round and can be fun to read, we discourage spending more than a page maximum on any interactions or content not directly related to those three topics. Many rounds also came to an abrupt end with little room to peter out after a climax; while this is not alwa

Xotiathon Round 1 - Culture Shock - P5

The glibby’s gleaks twitched with pleasure as she moved forward, feeling, for the first time in her life, like she wasn’t completely useless. Knowing she didn’t have time to waste, she studied the way ahead. There were three potential directions. One path veered off to the left, the other headed upwards to the right. However, the last… the last was far more interesting. Floala blinked, “How the hell is that even possible?!” Directly in front of her, a path dipped downwards below the level of the water and the mass of paths beyond. However, rather than becoming submerged in water, the pool parted around t

Staring up at the blinding ceiling lights of the medical ward he wished his mind would let him sleep or, at the very least, rest. A million thoughts crowded every inch of his brain but he didn't know what to do with them. One at a time. I'll process them one at a time. That's what the doctor had told him once he'd spoken to him about the sleepless nights and headaches. Okay, one at a time... Round Three was finally over. He was grateful he'd gotten back in time to see the last pair go at it, even if it were only on a hologram screen in the medical center. Sael's round. That was by far the most nightmarish.  It was funny now looking around at

Xotiathon Finale - Among the stars - Epilogue FIN

Floala gave out an ear-bleeding squeal as the rock walls began to crunch inwards around her, creating an increasingly tight corridor. A look of raw panic on her face, she dashed, stumbled and dived forth, screaming all the while. After an agonising couple of minutes, she cleared the obstacle and collapsed, gasping for breath. Then, sufficiently recovered, she looked up and surveyed the surroundings. As she spotted the finish line off in the distance, her face twisted into a furious scowl. “ARE YOU KIDDING?!” she shrieked, “What the hell am I meant to do now?! Stupid dumb arena with its dumb moving walls. I hate this! I HATE

Xotiathon Epilogue

With gravity restored, TÜ’pÜrys made contact with the floor of the arena. Although his match had ended, the contestant’s heart was still racing. This was not like the first round of Xotiathon. The Üg'yny'meïs knew immediately what the outcome was. The tournament was over for him. He was eliminated. Still, it was difficult for the simple creature to wrap his mind around what had just happened. It was like a haze, where nothing seemed real. - - - The next few days passed slowly, and the shock dissipated as they did. TÜ’pÜrys stood beside his handler in the main cabin of their return vessel.
